ICE: Power issues? A reminder

Local governments, city and county, should not be considered a source of information for questions regarding power outages, power restoration, downed lines, damaged utility poles/streetlights, etc. The City of Gainesville issued a reminder Saturday afternoon your power provider (most likely Georgia Power or Jackson EMC) should be notified instead. Do, however, report downed lines and utility poles if they pose an immediate threat to the public’s safety.

Additionally, local governments cannot remove trees, limbs or debris entangled with any utility line(s) unless it’s been confirmed that the lines are no longer “live.”
