‘I am traumatized’

The congressmen representing Hall County were quick to condemn Wednesday’s shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a speech at a Utah university which the state’s governor called a “political assassination.”

“I am traumatized by the murder of Charlie Kirk, a believer, a father, husband, son, friend, and leader who showed respect to others who did not offer him the same,” Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Suwanee) wrote on X. “This is devastating to so many, and we must lean on our God who will show us the way.”

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) also took to X, declaring “America lost a legend today. Charlie Kirk was a true patriot who deeply loved this nation. He devoted his life to America’s future generations—fighting for truth, faith, and freedom. May God bless his beautiful family. Rest in Peace, Charlie.”

Democrats and Republicans alike around the state and the country condemned what happened.
