HSNEGA joins state ‘no kill’ group

The Gainesville-based Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) is now a member of a group dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals by uniting as many shelters, rescue organizations, clinics, and community members as possible to “increase lifesaving” in the state.

It is described on its website as “a coalition of animal welfare organizations across the state of Georgia with the purpose of reducing and eventually eliminating euthanasia of healthy and treatable companion animals in our state.”

How does it hope to accomplish this?

Through “progressive, open and inclusive adoptions, statewide collective resources, shelter assistance programs, and education and training opportunities.”

Other groups from northeast Georgia that are members include Athens Area Humane Society, Barrow County Government, Athens-Clarke County Unified Government, Gwinnett County Animal Welfare Enforcement, and Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter.
