House-passed bill includes provisions directly affecting Lake Lanier

A bill that recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives includes two provisions directly affecting Lake Lanier.

One of them, proposed by Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Suwanee), would prohibit the Corps of Engineers from using federal funds to close campgrounds on the lake.

That became an issue earlier this year when the Corps announced that several campgrounds would be closed. Clyde, McCormick introduce bill to help keep Lanier parks open

Another provision of the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026 would “allow for the lawful carry of firearms on Corps of Engineers land.”
