House burglary; Fieldale feed mill fire; Dog bites deputy sheriff

*A residential burglary in the 4000 block of Old Cornelia Highway recently netted a thief or thieves more than $2,200 worth of items, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies took the report Saturday night. According to the initial investigation, an individual or individuals broke into the house between Thursday afternoon and Saturday night. The criminal or criminals took an air compressor, several chainsaws and various other tools, located both inside and outside of the home.

*One person was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for unspecified reasons following an equipment motor fire Friday afternoon about 5:30 at the Fieldale Farms feed mill in Baldwin. Units from Habersham County Emergency Services assisted Banks County Fire and EMS along with the Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department and Jackson County Correctional Institute Fire Department. The feed mill resumed normal operations by 8:00 Friday night.

*A Hall County sheriff’s deputy was bitten by a dog last week while responding to a call in the 100 block of Williams Street, a county spokeswoman said Monday. Joy Licciardi added the bite did not require treatment by EMTs. Hall County Animal Control arrived, located the dog’s owner and issued citations. “The owner was asked to take the dog to its vet for a mandatory 10-day quarantine; however, the owner failed to do so, resulting in Animal Control impounding the dog on Friday…to serve the quarantine period at the Hall County Animal Shelter,” Licciardi said. “The owner was issued a citation for failure to cooperate.”
