A 52-year-old South Hall man was charged over the weekend with hit-and-run and other charges following a collision with another vehicle.
The state patrol says Brian Edward Campbell of Flowery Branch left the scene even though the other driver made an improper turn into the path of his vehicle.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“Vehicle 1 was traveling south on Union Church Road. Vehicle 2 was traveling east on Union Circle and stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Union Church Road. Driver 1
attempted to turn right on to Union Circle but made an improper turn and crossed the center line. Driver 1 struck Vehicle 2 in the right rear with the front left of Vehicle 1. This crash
was determined by vehicle damage, driver statement, and witness statement.
Driver 1 fled the scene of the crash. When the investigating trooper made contact with Driver 1, he denied striking Vehicle 2.
Driver 2 stated that Vehicle 1 was turning and struck his vehicle and then left the scene.
A witness…stated she saw the Vehicle 1 hit Vehicle 2 and then speed away from the crash scene. Thornhill also stated she noticed Driver 1 was unable to maintain his lane. of travel while leaving…she was able to get a picture of Vehicle 1’s tag and help identify the vehicle.”
