Historic Banks Co. restaurant destroyed by fire, GoFundMe account established

A GoFundMe account has been set up on behalf of the owners of a nearly 100-year-old Banks County restaurant that was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

The Tiny Town Restaurant in Homer was established in the 1930s and had remained open since then though the ownership had changed several times over the years.

“As close friends of Sherrie McQueen and as a community, we want to rally around her and support her with an outpouring of love and support,” says a posting on GoFundMe. “Many of us enjoyed wonderful meals and meeting with friends to get the latest goings-on in the county. Sherrie poured her heart into making a nice place for everyone in the community to get together.”

According to the posting by a friend of McQueen’s, Connie Boring, “there was no budget” for insurance so the fundraiser is needed to rebuild and, more importantly, to care for and support Sherrie and her staff because they will be out of work.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of Tuesday afternoon.
