With the restoration of power completed in its service area, Jackson EMC (JEMC) has deployed 44 crew members along with several trucks and pieces of equipment, to assist with power restoration efforts in other parts of Georgia that are still without power in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
The JEMC team is joining line workers from across the country to support Rayle EMC in Washington, Jefferson Energy Cooperative in Wrens, and Washington EMC in Sandersville.
As of this morning, 6,089 Rayle EMC members, 28,272 Jefferson Energy Cooperative members, and 9,911 Washington EMC members are without power.
“This is one of the worst storms we’ve had in Georgia, and while we were fortunate to miss the brunt of it, we’re more than happy to send our resources to help our neighboring cooperatives in southeast Georgia, even if it stretches us thin for a couple of weeks,” said Tommy Parker, JEMC vice president of operations. “Cooperatives work to help each other. We’ve been fortunate to receive help during our times of need, and we do the same by sending crews and equipment where needed. That’s cooperation among cooperatives, and it’s just what we do.”
