Gainesville-based Georgia Heart Institute continues to expand into other part of northeast Georgia, most recently Toccoa.

“Residents of Toccoa, Stephens County and surrounding communities now have improved access to heart health care. Georgia Heart Institute recently welcomed Adel M. Eldin, MD, a distinguished cardiologist with four decades of experience, to serve patients full time in Toccoa. Dr. Eldin is accepting new patients to the growing practice, which recently relocated to the fourth floor of the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Toccoa Clinic at 58 Big A Road.
Georgia Heart Institute is also expanding patient access to heart and vascular diagnostic services in Toccoa. Beginning in April, the Toccoa clinic will offer echo and vascular testing. These non-invasive, radiation-free examinations use ultrasound to produce detailed images of the heart and blood vessels. Echo and vascular testing can identify plaques, clots and other abnormalities to guide decisions on treatments and interventions that would be needed.
Dr. Eldin completed his internal medicine internship at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, an externship at Brooklyn VA Medical Center, an internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, a research clinical fellowship at Hartford Hospital/University of Connecticut, and fellowships in clinical cardiology and interventional cardiology at Winthrop University Hospital, now called NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. After working for 20 years as an interventional cardiologist, he went back to school to earn an MBA in healthcare management from Albany State University to learn how to offer innovative solutions to healthcare challenges and leadership.
“We recognize the importance of disease prevention and risk factors modification,” Dr. Eldin said. “Rather than focus on acute care, or ‘sick care,’ we try to change the mindset into early detection and prevention. That will lead to a transformation of health care, resulting in better outcomes with lower costs.”
Dr. Eldin’s full-time presence in Toccoa illustrates Georgia Heart Institute’s strategic commitment to rural cardiovascular medicine, said Habib Samady, MD, FACC, president of Georgia Heart Institute.
“Georgia Heart Institute is committed to increasing the availability and quality of cardiovascular medicine in rural areas of Georgia that are often underserved in terms of health care,” Dr. Samady said. “Having a highly experienced cardiologist embedded in the community, along with increasing access to diagnostics and treatment services, shows that this strategy is bearing fruit not only in Toccoa but also in Blairsville, Habersham County, and throughout our service area.”
Dr. Eldin is dedicated to meeting the needs of the underserved, especially senior patients, and he is heavily involved in global health initiatives to end hunger and heart disease. He has received numerous awards for his charitable work, and he is a well-known speaker, focusing on topics related to wellness and preventive cardiology. He is committed to providing affordable, high-quality, compassionate health care to all patients.
