HCSO: Woman tries evading arrest by hiding in attic

Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) have filed additional charges against a woman arrested earlier this month by the Gainesville Police Department for stealing a debit card from an elderly victim and charging thousands of dollars for personal purchases.

Princess Monlikea Brown, 32, who has addresses in several different cities, was arrested on Thursday as HCSO investigators served a search warrant at a residence on Hickory Creek Court in Braselton. Investigators had received information that Brown had used an identity other than her own to obtain a lease on the residence.

As investigators served the search warrant, Ms. Brown hid in the attic of the home and hid behind an air conditioning unit, refusing to come out to talk with law enforcement. Investigators found two social security cards at the residence with Ms. Brown’s name on them; both had numbers that did not match Ms. Brown’s actual social security number. Investigators also found a 9 mm handgun.

As a result, Ms. Brown was charged with felony forgery in the second degree, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor obstruction. Brown was released from the Hall County Jail on Saturday on a bond of $10,500.

The charges brought by the sheriff’s office are not tied directly to the Gainesville Police case.
