HCSO U P D A T E: List of charges Deputy uses patrol car to end chase

Here are the charges Recinos is facing:

·         Fleeing/attempting to elude police officer (felony)

·         DUI alcohol

·         Open container

·         Driving while license suspended/revoked

·         Failure to maintain lane

·         Driving within gore or media

·         Tires-no metal contact on any roadways

·         Safety belts required usage

Recinos was still in jail Tuesday afternoon. Bond has been set at $4,550. He is also being held for immigration authorities and another county and there is no bond for either of those charges.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“On Friday, January 12, 2024, at 3:15 AM, a Trooper responded to investigate a traffic crash on I-985 South, in the area of Spout Springs Rd. 

The investigation showed a Hall County Deputy Sheriff attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Nissan Xterra, operated by Esvin Alvarado Recinos, 27, from Cornelia.  Mr. Alvarado Recinos failed to stop for the emergency lights and siren and initiated a vehicle pursuit. 

Observing the failure to yield and erratic driving behavior, the Hall County Deputy conducted a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver south of the Spout Springs exit. The Xterra overturned after the PIT maneuver and Mr. Alvarado Recinos was placed under arrest.

All charges related to this incident were taken by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, including fleeing and attempting to elude and Driving Under the Influence.”

(EDITOR’S NOTE: It was the second was the second chase on I-985/Georgia 365 involving a Hall County deputy in less than 48 hours.)
