HCSO: Toddler given pot, hogtied, led around with dog leash

A joint investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and authorities in neighboring county has led to child cruelty charges against an Alto woman who allegedly gave a toddler marijuana, hogtied the child, led the youngster around with a dog leash around the neck.

This investigation was opened several months ago by Habersham County authorities.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“…The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office initiated the child cruelty investigation into Brooke Morgan Bestpitch, 24, last year. When their investigators determined the abusive activities occurred at a residence in Hall County, they contacted the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Dec. 18…

The initial investigation by Hall County authorities found evidence that Ms. Bestpitch had handed the victim, a toddler, a marijuana joint and allowed the boy to smoke from it. As a result, Ms. Bestpitch was arrested on Feb. 6…and charged with reckless conduct. She posted a bond of $1,300 and was released from the Hall County Jail the following day.

During the ongoing investigation, HCSO investigators obtained search warrants for Ms. Bestpitch’s cell phones and her Snapchat account. Investigators located video and photo evidence of the victim hogtied with belts and yarn.

Additionally, they discovered a video of the boy with a dog leash around his neck, which was being pulled by the suspect, constricting the child’s neck. At that point, an arrest warrant was issued for felony first-degree child cruelty, and Ms. Bestpitch was arrested at her residence in Alto on April 11. She posted a bond of $11,200, and she was released from the Hall County Jail (the next day).”
