HCSO: Three inmates charged after suspected drugs found in jail

Hall County authorities have charged three inmates at the county jail with drug offenses after suspected drugs were found in a cell block.

HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“On…Aug. 5, a deputy noticed a small quantity of suspected drugs being slipped under a pod door to inmate Christopher Noel Nicely, 41, of Toccoa. Nicely picked them up. The deputy found them in his pocket.

Deputies field-tested the drugs, and the results were positive for the presence of opioids. During the ensuing investigation, deputies determined that Skylar Deondre Barrientos-Adams, 25, of Gainesville, was the inmate who passed the drugs to Nicely. Barrientos-Adams received them from Jytavious Darquale Collins, 35, of Gainesville, who passed them under his (Collins’) cell door. Jail personnel separated the three inmates into different housing areas.

Deputies charged all three inmates with possession of a schedule II drug and crossing guard lines, both felonies. Additionally, Collins and Barrientos-Adams are charged with one count each of possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute.

During a follow-up search of Collins’ belongings in his new cell, deputies found a small amount of suspected amphetamine on Aug. 7, leading to additional felony charges of possession of amphetamine and crossing guard lines.

The case remains under investigation.”
