HCSO sued by former inmate at county jail

A man who says he was injured by sheriff’s deputies at the Hall County Jail two years ago while he was handcuffed is suing the sheriff’s office.

Dewon Greer filed the suit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

Greer, who says he was left permanently scarred by the incident, had been arrested by the Georgia State Patrol for driving with a suspended license. Body camera video shows deputies forcing him to his knees and then dropping him on the ground on his head.

As it turns out, Greer’s driver’s license was suspended by mistake, according to the suit.

The sheriff’s office says it does not comment on pending litigation.
