HCSO searching for driver of wrecked, abandoned SUV

Early Friday morning, a Hall County sheriff’s deputy was called to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bolding Road and Winder Highway, according to the sheriff’s office.

He found an unoccupied black Ford Escape that appeared to have been in a crash in the front yard of a residence on Bolding Road.

The officer tried without success to locate the owner of the vehicle using registration information found at the scene.

Another early morning incident, this one Thursday, resulted in the replacement of a power pole and minor injuries to the driver of the car that hit it.

The sheriff’s office says it happened about 1:30 on Cleveland Highway near Dewberry Church #2 when a tire on the lone vehicle involved in the accident left the right side of the roadway. The driver told deputies he traveled down an embankment and struck the pole.

The driver complained of injury but refused transport to the hospital. He was cited for failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions. Jackson EMC was called to replace the pole.
