HCSO: Pickup hits tree, no serious injuries

A 26-year-old man was injured when his pickup collided with a tree on Clarks Bridge Road Wednesday afternoon.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to the crash at roughly 1:30 p.m. near Morningside Circle. Hall County Fire Rescue transported the driver, James Daylan Butler, 26, of St. Simons Island, to the hospital with what deputies classified as visible injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, Butler was northbound on Clarks Bridge Road when he crossed over the center line at Morningside Circle. The vehicle went off the road and hit a mailbox, fence and tree. The truck had a modified driver’s seat and only a lap belt, which was not secured.

Deputies cited Butler for the following traffic violations:

  • Too fast for conditions
  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Operating unsafe or improper equipment
  • Seat belt violation
  • Tire conditions

Butler was alone.
