HCSO: Officers met by chainsaw-wielding man during drug raid

A Chicopee husband and wife remain in jail on a long list of charges after Hall County investigators executed a search warrant at their home earlier this week, authorities said Friday. And, they add, the man threatened them with a chain saw when they confronted him.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit reported that Adam Troy Hollis, 40, and Brittany Lynne Hollis, 31, were taken into custody Wednesday on N Avenue. Both are being held in the Hall County Jail without bond.

Investigators say the couple was found inside a shed on the property. Despite repeated announcements, the pair refused to open the door. According to deputies, Adam Hollis attempted to destroy methamphetamine in a toaster oven while Brittany Hollis tried to delay entry. When investigators forced their way in, they encountered Adam Hollis advancing with a running chainsaw. He dropped the weapon on command, and no injuries were reported.

During the search, deputies seized 23 grams of methamphetamine, 41 assorted pills—including alprazolam, clonazepam, and oxycodone—and less than an ounce of marijuana, all packaged for sale. Investigators also discovered the couple’s child, under age 14, alone inside the main residence. The home had no power, and floors—including the child’s bedroom—were covered in feces.

Both face felony counts including:

  • possession of methamphetamine
  • possession with intent to distribute
  • sale of methamphetamine
  • possession of Schedule II and IV controlled substances
  • tampering with evidence
  • second‑degree child cruelty

Additionally, Adam Hollis was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, while his wife faces marijuana possession and marijuana possess with intent to distributed charges.

The investigation remains ongoing, and child welfare authorities have been notified.
