HCSO: Maysville man charged with drug trafficking

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Rodrigo Moises Tovar, 28, of Maysville, remains in the Hall County Jail following his arrest over the weekend on charges of possession and trafficking of illegal narcotics.

A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputy initially made contact with Tovar just before 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, outside of a Dollar General Store on Tribble Gap Road in eastern Hall County. A store employee called 911 to report a customer had noticed a man, later identified as Tovar, acting in a suspicious manner. The customer, who was still at the store when the deputy arrived, reported seeing Tovar exit his vehicle, walk around outside the store and then re-enter the vehicle more than once.

When the deputy approached the vehicle to speak with Tovar, he ordered Tovar to roll down the vehicle window, which he refused to do. Ultimately, the deputy opened the driver’s side door of the vehicle to speak with Tovar. At that time, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The suspect told the deputy where he could locate the marijuana in the vehicle.

The deputy contacted HCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) to come to the scene to take over the drug investigation. SIU investigators seized 6.6 ounces of marijuana, 14 grams of cocaine and 53 grams of methamphetamine from inside the vehicle. Total street value of the illegal drugs was estimated at
$6,225.

Tovar was charged with the following felony offenses:  possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and trafficking methamphetamine. Tovar also was charged with misdemeanor loitering and prowling.

Tovar is being held at the Hall County Jail with no bond.”
