HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“At approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday…deputies responded to a call in the area of Mountain View Road and Dennis Drive from a man requesting to be deported to Guatemala.
Deputies explained that the agency doesn’t handle immigration matters. The man, identified as Tomas Rivera De Leon, 19, repeatedly demanded that deputies deport him. Deputies again explained that the agency doesn’t deport people and advised him that if he wanted to go to Guatemala, he could do that on his own. They also told him to refrain from calling 911 unless he had an emergency. According to the preliminary investigation, alcohol may have contributed to Rivera De Leon’s behavior.
Less than five minutes after deputies left to respond to another call, Rivera De Leon called 911 again demanding that deputies deport him. He called 911 a total of four times in a 30-minute window, making the same request.
After his repeated calls, deputies responded to speak with Rivera De Leon for a second time. They again determined that there wasn’t an actual 911 emergency. Rivera De Leon continued to demand that deputies deport him. Deputies arrested him for misuse of a 911 call (misdemeanor).
During arrest, deputies found Rivera De Leon in possession of a fake Georgia identification card and a fake social security card. They then charged him with two counts of possessing a false identification document (misdemeanor).
Rivera De Leon is being held on $3,900 bond, as well as a federal immigration detainer.”
