HCSO: Gville man arrested, 6.3 pounds of meth seized

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies and investigators recently arrested a Gainesville man on
methamphetamine trafficking charges during an investigation that led them to nearly $80,000 worth of drugs and another arrest by authorities in Madison County and more of the drug.

HCSO NEWS RELEASE:

“Last week, HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigators charged Trevor Wade Southers, 24, with
trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

According to the initial details, deputies stopped an SUV for failure to maintain its lane at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the intersection of Mundy Mill Road and Creekside Place. During the initial investigation, deputies located approximately 1045 grams (2.3 pounds) of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

SIU investigators responded and determined that the drugs belonged to Southers, a passenger in the SUV. The street value of the methamphetamine was approximately $78,200.

During the ongoing investigation, SIU developed information about methamphetamine at a residence in
Madison County. They provided the intelligence to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), whose
personnel concurrently conducted their own March 20 investigation. MCSO investigators made an arrest,
seizing roughly four pounds of methamphetamine, several firearms and cash.

Southers, the Hall County suspect, was arrested at the traffic stop and remained in the Hall County Jail
without bond on Thursday afternoon, March 27.”
