HCSO: Griffin man puts up a fight but still ends up in jail

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Grant Ross Bell, 32, of Griffin was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 6, after Hall County deputies were called to a location on Atlanta Highway near Highland Terrace to investigate reports of a drive-by shooting.

When deputies arrived at the scene just after 1 a.m., they found Bell standing in the middle of the roadway, yelling and claiming someone had fired multiple gunshots in the area. According to the preliminary details of the investigation, Bell refused to answer the deputies’ questions about the incident, instead becoming more agitated and screaming obscenities at them. Bell was placed in handcuffs and placed in a patrol vehicle while additional deputies, along with officers from the Gainesville Police Department, checked the area for evidence of the shooting. When no evidence was found, deputies determined Bell reported a false crime to 911.

Bell was combative while he was being transported to the Hall County Jail and he continued to resist deputies once he arrived at the jail. He managed to rip a wire behind the seat of the patrol vehicle during transport, rendering the emergency light bar useless. He also kicked two deputies as he was being booked.

As a result, Bell has been charged with the following crimes:

·         Unlawful conduct during a 911 call

·         Interference with government property

·         Obstruction/resisting officer during an arrest (2 counts)

·         Obstruction of officers during a criminal investigation (2 counts)

At last check, Bell remains in the Hall County Jail on a bond of $24,300.”
