*The University of Georgia (UGA) recently dedicated its new Poultry Science Building and during the ceremony it was announced that one part of the facility will be known as the “Abit Massey Classroom,” named after the Gainesville resident who is a UGA alumnus and president emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation.
*The sheriff’s deputy, Jesus Calderon, was recognized by the Hall County Domestic Violence Task Force as its 2023 Domestic Violence Officer of the Year. The nomination letter reads, in part, “(He) is a true asset to our county government and judicial system to assure domestic violence victims are always sheltered and offenders are always held accountable.”
