HCSO: Arrest in 4-month-old, $644K theft

An Atlanta man remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond after Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators determined the suspect used a fraudulent bank account in Atlanta to deposit a stolen check from a Hall County business. The investigation into the stolen check, in the amount of more than $644,000, began in early February.

HCSO NARRATVE:

“To date, the investigation has determined Ryan Kenneth Adams, 35, received a check that had been stolen from the business mailbox for Conditioned Air Systems in Gainesville.

The check had been mailed to the business from a client. Investigators found evidence that Adams deposited the check into a fraudulent account at a bank branch on Camp Creek Parkway in Atlanta using the stolen identity of one of the business administrators.

(A week ago) warrants were obtained for Adams’s arrest on charges of identity theft, theft by receiving and deposit account fraud, all felony crimes. Adams was arrested over the weekend in Cobb County and transferred to the custody of Hall County on Monday, July 15.”
