The Hall County School District’s (HCSD) Agribusiness Center, known as The
Farm, has been awarded the Fall Garden of the Season distinction by the Georgia Department
of Education’s (GDOE) School Nutrition Division.
This recognition celebrates schools and programs that demonstrate excellence in Farm to
School initiatives, local food sourcing, and agriculture education—all areas in which The Farm
continues to lead across the state.
Located on Cleveland Highway, the Agribusiness Center serves as a hands-
on learning environment where students from across the district engage in real-world
agricultural experiences. On-site bee hives allow students to cultivate and harvest honey, while
the Meat Science Center provides training in meat preparation and processing. Students are
also learning to raise cattle for beef, with beef products shared with school cafeterias
throughout the district.
Almost 5,000 students took field trips to the farm last year, and over 900 community members
participated in tours.
“The Farm embodies what public education can and should be—students learning by doing,
connecting with their community, and understanding the real-world impact of their work,” said
Superintendent Will Schofield. “This recognition from the Georgia Department of Education is a
testament to the vision and dedication of our staff, students, and partners who make this
program thrive.”
