HCSD: Merit semifinalists; Title 1 Reward School. GCSS: Teacher of the Year

*North Hall High School students Daniel Cavazos and Aidan Voyles have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. They now move forward by submitting a detailed application that includes essays, strong academic performance, and qualifying SAT scores. From the group of semifinalists, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation selects scholarship winners.

*Myers Elementary School has been named a Title I Reward School by the state Department of Education (GA DOE). According to the GA DOE, “Title I Reward Schools are identified as the top 5% of Title I schools in the state making the most progress in improving the performance in English Language Arts
and Mathematics of the all-students subgroup.”

*Chandler Reed, a third-grade teacher at Enota Elementary School, has been named the 2025-2026 Gainesville City School System (GCSS) Teacher of the Year. The honor comes with a $10,000 check from the Douglas and Kay Ivester Foundation. Each of the runners-up gets $500.
