*An Oakwood company’s request to annex about 100 acres at Georgia 365 and Duncan Bridge Road into the city of Baldwin hit a roadblock Monday night, according to nowgeorgia.com. That’s when the Habersham County Commission (HCC) okayed a resolution objecting to Cook Construction and Real Estate’s request based on the “increased burden on the county” from the proposed change in zoning and land use. *Gainesville Police say they recently clocked a motorist on Thompson Bridge Road at 117 mph in a 45-mph speed limit zone. A Facebook posting notes that that is 2 1/2 times the legal limit. And, yes, the posting says, he was caught.
