HCC agenda: Cagle Rd. development, plans for worship center

Though it’s not on the agenda for Monday’s Hall County Commission (HCC) work session, this week is the self-imposed deadline for the planning commission hearing officer to turn in his report on the fate of three planning board members charged with violating the state’s Open Meetings law. EARLIER STORY. POSTED DEC. 17: Decision on fate of three planning commissioners promised by Jan. 8

Thursday is Jan. 8, the day the county commission meets for its Voting Session. No action can be taken at Monday’s meeting since it’s a work session.

Whether that report is ready or not, the county commission faces a full slate of business Monday at its first get-together of the new year.

One of the first items on the agenda is election of a vice-chairman. Commissioner Kathy Cooper is in line for that post.

A proposed mixed-use development in the 2600 block of Sardis Road is on the agenda again. The 26-acre site is at the East Sardis Road intersection. The request to rezone the tract from Residential 1 (R-1) and Suburban Shopping (S-S) to Mixed-Use (M-U) was postponed until this week by the commission on Dec. 11.

Also, on Monday’s agenda is another matter postponed until this week: Variance requests for a third of an acre on Highland Terrace near West Highland Drive where a church is planned.
