For the second time in as many days, guns in schools is making news in Hall County.
The latest incident involves a student at North Hall Middle School (NHMS), where a student told a classmate that he was going to bring a gun to school.
“The comment was made as a joke to a classmate,” school district Stan Lewis said Friday afternoon. “The student was disciplined and turned over to law enforcement for the remarks. The student had no access to weapons.”
Asked about any disciplinary action that has been taken against the 8-year-old boy who did bring a loaded gun to school at Myers Elementary Thursday, Lewis said he has been disciplined but he declined to comment further.
“Yes, there are consequences for the Myers student; however, student discipline cannot be shared,” Lewis said.
All of this has taken place as a Hall County jury has been hearing testimony in Winder in the trial of the father of the alleged Apalachee High School shooter. The jury is from Gainesville because of a change-of-venue motion that was approved by the judge in the case.
