Hall Co. woman facing nearly a dozen counts of cruelty to animals

A 40-year-old Hall County woman, Jessica Marie Jenson, was being held in the county jail Tuesday night following her arrest Monday on nine counts of cruelty to animals.

An animal control officer’s report says he answered a call about noon to the 1700 block of Creekside Lane in Oakwood where, following an eviction of the tenants, several animals had been found – four dead cats and two alive puppies. The officer also noted that the inside of the apartment was filthy and in disarray – the floors covered in garbage, feces, clothing and toys.

“Arrived on scene and saw a deputy with 2 black and white puppies on a leash,” the officer wrote. “Was advised there were 3 deceased cats in an upstairs bedroom of the apartment. Secured the puppies on the truck and entered the residence with Deputy Davis. I began taking pictures of the conditions as soon as I entered the apartment.

“There was garbage and feces on the entry way floor, kitchen floor, and living room floor. I proceeded upstairs to the 2 bedrooms. I bedroom floor was just covered in garbage, clothes and boxed childrens toys “Hello Kitty”. The other bedroom floor and bed were covered in garbage, clothes and feces. 3 deceased cats found in this bedroom. When I finished taking pictures I removed the cats and placed on my truck (and left).

“I had not gotten far when Deputy Davis called and advised a fourth deceased cat had been found. I returned and secured it on my truck. I scanned all animals for microchips. None of the cats had one, both of the puppies had one implanted by the Humane society but no owner info was attached to the chips.”

Jenson is being held on bonds totaling $21,600.
