Hall Co. taking the wraps off new grand jury room

HALL CO. GOVERNMENT NEWS RELEASE:

“Hall County Courts will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. to unveil its new dedicated Jury Assembly space at the Hall County Courthouse located in downtown Gainesville.

The newly constructed room increased the capacity from 120 people to 225 people, with an additional 2,600 sq. ft. of space.

“As Hall County continues to grow, so too will its Judicial System. This project is just another forward-thinking plan that allows for expanded capacity and use to meet the needs of this growing community,” Hall County Clerk of Courts Charles Baker said.

The 4,397 sq. ft. room has new features, including audio and visual capabilities that will allow the jury to watch video orientation and a check-in queuing area, which will alleviate congestion in the courthouse hallways.

The jury assembly room was completed in August with a $1.4 million budget funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VII and Capital Projects.

Light refreshments will be available at the ribbon cutting ceremony, along with an opportunity to tour the new space. Guests should go to the second floor of the courthouse when they arrive. The Jury Assembly Room is located on the right-hand side at the end of the hallway.”
