Hall Co.’s EOC deactivated; Early morning fire; Drug distribution charges

*Hall County Emergency Management (EOC) deactivated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 8:30 this morning. It had been operational since the weekend because of the ice storm. County spokeswoman Sarah Crowe in her noontime briefing that Vaughandale Circle was still closed because of icy conditions. It was closed between Sardis Church Road and Dawsonville Highway early in the weekend not long after ice began accumulating and was the only county road that had to be closed because of the storm.

*An investigation is underway into a “small” house fire about 3:30 Tuesday morning in the 3900 block of Hilldale Road, according to a spokeswoman for Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR). No one was injured.

*An 18-year-old is charged with drug distribution after Gainesville Police say he was found in possession of 11 grams of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop. A Gainesville Police spokesman says Damian Jamar Ponce was also wanted by Hall and Forsyth counties on unspecified charges. He was booked into the Hall County Jail Friday.
