UPDATE: POSTED 1:45 P.M. FRIDAY: The Hall County Government Center has reopened.
Upon investigation, the Gainesville Fire Department, Hall County Fire Rescue and Hall County Central Services determined the smoke was caused by a malfunction with the service elevator shaft. This elevator will be closed until further notice.
Again, no injuries were reported, and all staff and visitors were evacuated safely.
EARLIER STORY. POSTED 11:30 A.M. FRIDAY: The Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road will be closed to the public until further notice after smoke was reported in the elevator shafts.
All visitors and personnel have been evacuated safely and there are no reported injuries.
The cause of the smoke is currently being investigated.
