A 41-year-old woman who fled Hall County’s work release program last spring is back in jail.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokeswoman B.J. Williams says Joanna Kayla Barrett was picked up Monday at the Gwinnett County Jail and returned to Gainesville. Warrants for her arrest had been issued in May 2024.
“She was part of Hall County’s work release program when she cut and removed her ankle monitor and escaped from custody,” Williams said. “She had originally been arrested on drug charges.”
Barrett is now facing charges of removal, destruction or circumvention of (monitoring device), escape, and probation violation. She is being held without bond.
