HALL CO. NEWS BRIEFS: House fire, Kubota groundbreaking, city BOE candidate

*A house fire Thursday afternoon in the 3400 block of Jet-Wright Road displaced four people. Hall County Fire Rescue got the call about 3:30. A spokeswoman said crews found “a small fire” on the first floor and it was “extinguished quickly. There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

*Groundbreaking was held Thursday for Kubota’s latest expansion in Hall County. The addition to the company’s current facility in the Gateway Industrial Center on Georgia 365 is expected to eventually add 500 new jobs, company officials have said. It will produce front-end loaders for Kubota tractors.

*An official with Peach State Bank, Steven Pettit, plans to run for the seat on the Gainesville Board of Education now held by Sammy Smith, according to a Facebook posting. Smith announced several months ago that he would not seek re-election this year. The election will be held in November.
