A spokesman for the Hall County School District (HCSD) confirmed Tuesday that the school board is moving toward a ban on cellphones for students in all grades.
Stan Lewis pointed out, however, that the board must sit on the proposal for a month before a final vote is taken.
The board’s plan goes a step further than a new state law that calls for banning the devices for K-8 students and apply to high school students as well. The ban would be effective with the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Lewis said it would apply not only to cell phones but other electronic devices such as smartwatches, tablets, e-readers, and earbuds.
