A Habersham County deputy sheriff was disciplined this week following a traffic accident that occurred while he was on duty Jan. 22.
HABERSHAM CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE FACEBOOK POST:
“Deputy Christian Brewer was responding with emergency lights and siren activated to a high-priority call of a person holding a gun against his head (and) making threats with other people inside the home.
At the time of the crash, (Brewer) was proceeding through the intersection of Pea Ridge Road and Duncan Bridge Road, and another vehicle crossing the roadway struck the deputy’s vehicle.
The other vehicle had a green light and the deputy…stated he did not see that vehicle as he was proceeding through the intersection.
Per Habersham County Sheriff’s Office policy, the Georgia State Patrol was called to investigate the collision.
There were no reported injuries…
(Brewer) was not taken by ambulance from the crash scene but was evaluated at the hospital after he was transported there by his supervisor for routine, post-accident blood testing.
Because the Georgia State Patrol found the deputy to be at fault in the collision, he is receiving disciplinary action in the form of two-day suspension without pay, and re-training on “due regard and emergency vehicle operation.”
Brewer was hired May 6, 2024, (and) serves in the Uniform Patrol Division.”
