UPDATE: Habersham Co. manhunt over

The state patrol says Rahim Abdullah, 50, was captured earlier this evening in the general area where law enforcement officers had been looking for him. He had fled on foot after wrecking his car while being chased by a state trooper who had tried to stop him in connection with an incident Athens that left one person dead.

“He was arrested in the area of today’s search, near Tom Arrendale Interchange in an unincorporated area of Habersham County outside Clarkesville and Mt. Airy,” Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore wrote in an email. “The interchange is where Ga. 17 (Toccoa Highway), Ga. 15, and Ga. 365 intersect.”
