Gville’s Festival of Trees: Something new this year

Gainesville’s annual Festival of Trees opens this year Nov. 23 to coincide with Main Street Gainesville’s downtown Jingle Mingle and Lighting of the Great Chicken. Housed on the first floor of the city’s administrative building where the city’s visitors center is located, it will be open 4:00-8:00 that day and new this year visitors will be greeted by city staff serving hot cocoa, hot apple cider and cookies.

“The City of Gainesville organizes the annual Festival of Trees, which has grown in attendance every holiday season since introduced in 2020. Our creative and talented employees help bring this magical seasonal offering to life,” said city Public Relations Direcor Christina Santee-Moss. “Not only does the public get to enjoy a beautiful collection of themed Christmas trees, but for one night only, they get to vote for their favorite(s) during Jingle Mingle and the Lighting of the Chicken in downtown Gainesville.”

Though voting is limited to Nov. 23, those who can’t attend the Festival of Trees kickoff may view and photograph the trees any time from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Christmas.
