A 67-year-old Gainesville woman suffered serious injuries Monday when her car crashed into the back of a tractor trailer at the intersection of McEver Road and Mundy Mill Road in the Oakwood area.
The preliminary investigation indicates Susan Elizabeth Walling suffered a medical emergency causing her car to hit the 18-wheeler, which was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection. The car was lodged under the back of the trailer, and Walling had to be cut from the wreckage.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. A third vehicle was damaged by debris from the crash. Its driver was not injured.
The accident was reported just before 3 p.m. The roadway was closed to traffic for just over an hour.
