Gville woman facing 7 charges in connection with week-old accident

Almost a week after a single-car crash involving an overturned vehicle in northwestern Hall County, the driver was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

Just before midnight on (Oct.7) deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Unit responded to the crash site in the 3800 block of Price Road

Callers to 911 observed a woman, presumed to be the driver, limping away from the vehicle, walking towards Thompson Bridge Road. An additional call to 911 came from a security guard at Lanier Village Estates on Thompson Bridge Road, who reported a suspicious person, fitting the description of the driver, lying on an embankment near the security booth.

The H.EA.T. Unit deputy located the woman, identified as Yurissa Medina Aguirre, 28, of Gainesville, and based on evidence at the crash scene, determined she had been driving the vehicle. Ms. Medina Aguirre was treated by medical personnel at the scene and then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation at the scene determined Ms. Medina Aguirre had been traveling westbound on Price Road at a high rate of speed. She lost control of her vehicle in a curve, driving off the roadway. The vehicle vaulted end-over-end and landed on its roof. The driver’s ID card as well as several empty and open containers of alcohol were located inside the vehicle.

Warrants were issued for Ms. Medina Aguirre’s arrest on the following offenses:

·         Reckless driving

·         Leaving the scene of an accident

·         Driving while unlicensed

·         Driving too fast for conditions

·         Failure to maintain lane

·         Open container violation

·         DUI-alcohol/less safe

Ms. Medina Aguirre was arrested at her residence on Monday (and) she posted a bond of $13,220 and was released later in the day.”
