Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators have charged a Gainesville woman with several criminal counts related to the physical abuse of her toddler son, who suffered serious injuries as a result.
“Deputies took custody of Amy Suzan Pittman, 23, on Friday evening, May 1, after investigators interviewed her,” sheriff’s office spokesman Derrick Booth said. “She is charged with six felony counts each of first-degree cruelty to children and aggravated battery under the Family Violence Act.”
The Sheriff’s Office investigation began April 22, when investigators received a referral from the Hall County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in reference to injuries to a toddler.
According to the initial HCSO investigation, Pittman injured the 20-month-old on at least three occasions by “pulling” on him. The incidents occurred between April 14 and April 30 at Pittman’s residence on Sailors Avenue.
“The child, who is being treated at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, suffered one fracture to his right arm and two to his left arm,” Booth said. “He also suffered fractures to both clavicles and his left leg. The injuries are classified as serious but not life-threatening.”
Pittman is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail. DFCS took custody of the child.
