Gville scholarship winner; EJHS choir comes home a winner; Another EJHS honor; Hall FCCLA student, Young Writers advance

*Lee University student from Gainesville has received a $3,000 scholarship from the Tennesse school. Emma Anderson was one of 12 students at the university who were announced as scholarship winners at the conclusion of the recent Lee Day festivities.

*A Jackson County high school chorus recently came home with a first-place finish in their division in an international choir competition. The East Jackson High School Mastery Choir traveled to Lloret Del Mar and Barcelona, Spain, for the Golden Voices of Montserrat competition, which featured choirs from 27 countries.

*Also, East Jackson has been recognized by the state Department of Education (GDOE) as one of twenty-five 2024-2025 Military Flagship School Award winners. The award recognizes schools that go above and beyond to provide a supportive environment for military students and families, according to a GDOE news release.

*Flowery Branch High School’s Angel Midkiff has qualified for the National FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders) in Orlando, Florida, July 5-9.

*The Hall County School District (HCSD) also came away with two winners at the recent Region Young Georgia Authors Writing Contest and their works will now compete for state honors. Elleigh Haynes of North Hall Middle School and Johnson High’s Daniela Aguilar, who were named RESA-level winners for their works, Two Worlds, One Heart and When the Heart Speaks, respectively. They competed against students from 15 other schools in the Pioneer RESA region.
