Parking deck damage; $1,000 theft; $200K theft

*Gainesville Police said Wednesday the lookout they posted Tuesday night for suspects wanted for some “downtown damage,” which they did not specify at the time, is connected to damage that was done to the “electronic parking arms” at one of the city’s downtown parking decks. *Police Wednesday morning issued another lookout for a couple of suspects in the theft of vapes from a local business. “In late September, the two suspects forced their way into a vape store on EE Butler Parkway,” the post reads. “The duo ‘vaporized’ with over $1,000 worth of vapes. *A downtown Gainesville restaurant is reporting a $200,000 theft which it says occurred over more than a two-year period – and is blaming unnamed employees for it. Hopscotch, which is located on Bradford Street, says the theft occurred between Jan. 1, 2022, and last Friday. Gainesville Pollice spokesman Kevin Holbrook said Wednesday no suspects have been identified. Nor has anyone said how many employees might have been involved.
