Gville man, on the run for eight months, surrenders

A 23-year-old Gainesville man who turned himself in last Thursday in connection with charges filed against him eight months ago following a traffic stop is free on $5,960 bond.

“What you saw on Friday (on a jail report) were additional charges of felony fleeing/attempting to elude, misdemeanor failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and misdemeanor failure to yield entering/crossing roadway.,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Monday. “Those warrants were taken on April 16, 2025, following the completion of an investigation by our Accident Investigation Unit (AIU). I’m not sure why he was at large for eight months.”

EARLIER HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) APRIL NEWS RELEASE:

“Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) traffic deputies arrested a Gainesville man Saturday…on a list of traffic charges after observing the man operating a motorcycle without a
license plate.
The deputy was patrolling an area on Mundy Mill Road near Milton Martin Toyota Way just
before 9:30 p.m. when he observed the offender, later identified as Dylan Eric Carter Travis, 23,
and another motorcycle traveling together. Neither bike had a license plate, so the deputy
followed the pair as they turned eastbound on Mundy Mill continuing on Winder Highway. The
deputy activated his blue lights as they approached the intersection of Winder Highway and
Oliver Road.

Initially, both bikers accelerated in an attempt to flee the traffic stop. Mr. Travis
traveled off the roadway and attempted to re-enter the road as the deputy pulled alongside of
him. At that time, Mr. Travis clipped the front of the bumper on the deputy’s patrol vehicle and
laid down his bike. Mt. Travis complained of an injury to his leg. He was taken to the hospital
for treatment before he was transported to the Hall County Jail.

Mr. Travis was charged with no display of license plate, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding,
failure to maintain lane, no insurance and driving with slick tires.

Mr. Travis posted a bond of $8,040 and was released from the Hall County Jail on Sunday, April
6.”
