A Gainesville man is free on bonds totaling $16,900 following his arrest a week ago in connection with a traffic accident that left a passenger in his truck with a serious injury. Hall County sheriff’s deputies had also charged Alan Ruiz, 20, with DUI and other traffic offenses following the single-vehicle crash on March 8.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Deputies arrived at the scene of the crash on Gillsville Highway just west of Emory Griffin Road just before 3:45 a.m. and found a Dodge Ram pickup truck overturned on the side of the roadway. The driver, identified as Ruiz, was standing outside the vehicle. His passenger, Ricardo Ruiz, 43, of Gainesville, was trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
According to the preliminary investigation, Ruiz was driving southbound on Gillsville Highway when he drove off the side of the road and flipped the vehicle. His passenger suffered a broken leg in the crash. Ruiz suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital before being transported to the Hall County Jail on charges of DUI, failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions.
