Gville man ends up in jail following series of events, including fleeing sheriff’s deputies

A 49-year-old Gainesville man, Alan Eric Hollander, is free on bond following his weekend arrest on DUI and a number of other traffic offenses following an incident on Jesse Jewell Parkway. He’s also charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Just after 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, an HCSO deputy observed a passenger vehicle traveling eastbound on Jesse Jewell Parkway near West Academy Street.

The driver, later identified as Hollander, was weaving on the roadway and was driving without headlights or taillights on.

The deputy turned on his blue lights and his siren in an attempt to stop the driver, but Hollander proceeded traveling eastbound. Hollander stopped at the traffic light at Downey Boulevard, but when the deputy got out of the patrol vehicle to speak with him, Hollander drove away.

The deputy alerted Hall County Dispatch, and other deputies arrived to assist. Hollander stopped in the area of Limestone Parkway where deputies were able to pull their patrol vehicles in front of and behind him so he could not leave the scene.  Speeds never exceeded 46 mph during the incident.

Hollander was booked into the Hall County Jail on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude, failure to maintain lane, headlights and other lights required, obedience to follow required traffic control devices.

He posted a bond of $11,790 and was released the same day he was booked.”
