The average daily temperature in June in Gainesville was nearly three degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) June Climate Summary (JCS) for select locations in north and middle Georgia.
The tally shows that the average temperature in Gainesville was 78.5 degrees, 2.8 degrees above normal for June. Only Atlanta and Peachtree City among nine locations covered by the NWS Peachtree City office were warmer.
The warmest day of the month in Gainesville and among the other locations for that matter was the 26th. The high in Gainesville that day was 98. But Macon, Columbus, Athens, Atlanta, Peachtree City, Rome, and Chamblee (Peachtree-DeKalb Airport) each reached 100 or more, and it was 99 at the other reporting station, Fulton County Airport (northwest Atlanta).
As for rainfall, Gainesville recorded 1.76 inches during June, 2.47 inches below normal.
