January temperatures in Georgia as well as Gainesville were “around normal” last month, according to the January Climate Summary from the National Weather Service (NWS), and precipitation statewide was an inch-and-a-half below normal. Gainesville, however, came up short by 2.3 inches.
The report shows that the average temperature in January in Gainesville was 42.2. Normal is 42.4.
And precipitation? The average for the first month of the year in Gainesville is 4.95 inches. This year, though, data collected at the airport by the NWS totaled 2.62 inches.
