If you spotted a lot of law enforcement cars in the parking lot at Target on Shallowford Road Saturday, it was nothing to be alarmed about. Officers from several agencies came together with the local Fraternal Order of Police chapter for its annual Shop with a Cop.
“Today, we had the privilege of taking 80 wonderful children Christmas shopping, and we even had Santa along for the ride!” says a note on the Gainesville Police Department’s Facebook page.
“This event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of our local businesses and the generosity of our community members. A huge thank you to Chick-fil-A Gainesville West for supplying our officers and families with delicious chicken biscuits to fuel the day! and thank you to Puzzle Piece Pastries for donating a coupon for a free birthday cake to each child who shopped with us! 
“A special shout-out to Target Store Gainesville and their incredible team for going above and beyond to make this day so special for everyone involved. Your support truly helped make this event one to remember!”
