The average temperature in Gainesville during August was 2.3 degrees above average for the month, according to the August Climate Summary from the National Weather Service (NWS). That was the largest departure from normal of any of the nine reporting stations listed by the NWS Peachtree City office.
Data taken by the NWS at the Gainesville airport, show that the highest temperature during the month was 96 which was reached on August 8.
As for rainfall, a deficit for the month of 3.09 inches was recorded. Normal is 4.73, meaning only 1.64 inches were recorded.
Statewide, temperatures were about a degree above normal on average and rainfall was three inches below normal.
